Laura graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science as well as a Master of Health Communication. She then went on to live in Denmark and completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from University College Copenhagen.
During University Laura studied a variety of health-related fields including human anatomy, physiology, health promotion, psychology as well as art therapy. She also has clinical experience from Denmark working in rehabilitation centres as well as a school for children with physical and cognitive disabilities.
Laura developed a passion for hand therapy after realising how many loved ones in her life have suffered from a range of hand and arm conditions. Her interest in pursuing hand therapy further stemmed from her interest in studying anatomy and understanding how the musculoskeletal system works. Laura understands the profound impact hand therapy can have on a person’s recovery and their ability to participate in meaningful activities, whether for work, sport, or daily life. Committed to evidence-based practice, she takes pride in incorporating the latest research into personalised rehabilitation programs designed to meet each patient’s unique needs.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys being outside in nature, whether she is on a bushwalk or swimming at the beach. She has also recently developed a new passion for reformer pilates. In her younger days, Laura enjoyed playing soccer and became a Surf Lifesaver at the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club. Luckily for Action Rehab, Laura Race now dedicates her time to Action Rehab supporting people to overcome their upper limb injuries.
